Reefpoint Brew House

The Reefpoint Brew House Restaurant and Pub Patio overlooks the Racine, WI Marina with a picturesque view. The patio’s use was limited in the summer by the heat of direct sunlight, inclement weather such as rain and wind that is inevitably present in a marina, and in the winter, by the cold, snow and wind. Customers could only be comfortably seated in certain times.

taureaux tavern

Taureaux Tavern is located at the base of the Chicago Options Exchange, surrounded by a large promenade. The goal here was to design a structure that would maximize outdoor seating and events, aesthetically coordinate with the newly remodeled building, and not interfere with the large amount of foot traffic surrounding two sides of the patio. Special engineering was also an important task as the waterproofing substructure below the build protected the underground parking structure directly beneath.

Before
The promenade between two buildings that was essentially used as a large sidewalk.
Before
Extensive engineering was involved so as not to disrupt waterproofing of the garage below.
After
An eye catching bistro that enhances the surrounding area and brings tremendous focus to the restaurant.
After
Comfortable and stylish, with all day seating for 60, or easily transformed into a special events venue for parties and large gatherings.

CARMINES Alex Danas Rosebud est 1976

Located just outside of Chicago in the town of Rosemont is Carmine's, an authetic "white cloth" Italian restaurant and part of the famous Rosebud group of restaurants. PEG was tasked with designing a large outdoor patio that would compliment the Tuscan design of the venue yet remain intimate in feel, and provide a comfortable environment for the guests. Highlighted with a seperate Pizza Bar, a large overhead door to access the interior bar, and wood burning fireplace this patio wastes no time in transporting you to Italy.

Before
At nearly 1800 sqft, the layout and engineering of the patio structure was crucial for optimum seating capacity.
Before
Elevating the structure to 12' high ensured the open feeling would not be lost over such a large footprint.
After
A two-tone powder coated color scheme was utilized to bring definition to the structure without darkening the space when the roof is closed.
After
Classic rope lighting, bluetooth controlled ceiling fans, and infra-red heaters ensure optimum comfort.
After
With twelve different "bays" of louvers, each operating independently, different zones of light and shade can be created.
After
In the end, a classic European Bistro with a contemporary twist is as inviting as it is functional.
